What is a neutron star? How big are they? What would happen to you if you were to stand on the surface of a neutron star? What is a pulsar? When two large stars of more than 1.5 solar masses run out of fuel and collapse, a neutron star is formed. Neutron stars are about 20 km across. If a person is to stand on the surface of a neutron, he/she would be compressed down and flatten. It is because of the high gravitational pull. A pulsar is an astronomical object, which emits radiation in the form of rapid pulses with a characteristic pulse period and duration. In other word, pulsars are the spinning neutron star that periodically flashes radiation toward Earth. |
