Active galaxies

Name two basic differences between normal and active galaxies. Are there any nearby active galaxies, within say 50 Mpc?

Active galaxies are much more luminous then the normal galaxies. Active galaxies emit more energy than normal galaxies. The energy emitted by normal galaxies is the sum of energy emitted by each star within the galaxy.40% of all known galaxies are active galaxies, but only few of them reside within 50 Mpc from the Milky Way. NGC 7742 (24 MPC), Circinus galaxy (4 Mpc), Centaurus A (4 Mpc) and M87 (17 Mpc) are some of them.
